Nonton Film My Teacher, My Obsession (2018) Full Movie Sub Indonesia
My Teacher My Obsession is a movie I saw while scrolling through Netflix and randomly decided to watch.
Sometimes doing this will result in finding some seriously hidden gems.
Unfortunately, this is not one of those cases.
In fact, I’d go as far as to say this is one of the worst movies of 2018.
I’m going to save you the effort of watching the movie and tell you all about it.
Unfortunately, it’s not even bad enough that it’s funny, it’s simply frustrating to watch and you’ll be checking the clock by the midpoint.
Of course, this is going to contain spoilers, but don’t worry, I’m not ruining anything worth watching.
With all of that said, let’s get into the review of My Teacher My Obsession.
If you wish to check out the trailer, click here. (For some reason the film is called DAD CRUSH in trailers despite the name being My Teacher My Obsession?)
Looking at the plot, it’s exactly what you would expect.
It’s an extremely bland storyline about a hot English teacher that some weird girl gets a crush on.
Trust me when I say, you could guess the ending of this movie just by looking at the cover.
The second that Kyla lays her eyes on our star teacher Chris, she instantly falls madly in love.
Unfortunately for her, we come to find out that Chris is already dating her mother, despite only being in town for about a week.
Kyla then goes about ruining their relationship so that she can have Chris all to herself.
To do this, she continues to use Riley, Chris’s daughter.
Turns out Chris is a terrible father and he actually does end up trying to sleep with Kyla.
Blah blah blah, Chris feels bad about it, Kyla reveals she’s actually crazy and tries to kill them, blah blah blah.
The plot is possibly the most generic thing you’ll ever hear, so I’m not going to focus on it.
Let’s get into exactly why this movie is as bad as it is.
One of the worst parts about this movie would be the writing.
If the writing had been half decent, then I would say this movie was at the very least decent.
However, you will find some of the worst one-liners you’ve ever heard in My Teacher My Obsession.
One line in particular that comes to mind would be when Kyla is hooking up with Chris, and then gets mad that he isn’t going through with it, so she mentions that he never asked her age.
She then follows this up with, “Oh pick up the jaw sugar, I’m legal.”
And yes, the delivery is just as cringy as the line itself.
You’ll continue to find horrible lines like this all throughout the film.
Another thing that really bothered me was when we see Riley and Kyla texting.
I mean, seriously guys, the gun emoji was removed like last year.
Also, she’s sitting at a dinner table, do parent's really caring if their children are texting at the dinner table anymore?
All around, the characters presented in this movie are all extremely shallow and have no real depth to them.
There is also a million plot holes that I could point out just by looking at the writing of the movie.
For example, everyone in the movie seems to have each other's phone number, no matter who it is.
Also, at the end of the movie when everyone knows Chris pretty much slept with a student and the school knew about it, he still acts as if he isn’t going to be fired.
He mentions that he would simply quit if Kyla wouldn’t leave him alone.
The writing is extremely inconsistent and seems to just do whatever it wants.
My Teacher My Obsession: Scenes
Going along with the writing in the show, there are specific scenes that I want to point out that are particularly horrible.
Pretty much all of these scenes occur in the last 15 minutes of the film, which is not the way you want to end a movie experience.
Here we have this scene where we watch as Kyla snakes through the halls right behind Riley.
I can only assume that the director forgot that he wasn’t filming a monster movie.
This entire scene is totally out of place and looks laughably bad.
Why is it that Kyla needs to snake through the halls? I can understand that she needs to reach Riley and walking right down the hallway would have been too obvious, but seriously, this is not the way to do this scene.
After she finally reaches Riley, she stabs her once in the stomach and Riley starts crawling on the ground (This isn’t how anything works by the way.)
Being stabbed in the stomach would obviously hurt, but it certainly wouldn’t leave you crawling on the ground in seconds. I mean, your legs still work even if you get stabbed in the stomach…
Next up, we have this scene where this small skinny goth chick overpowers this absurdly buff man.
Now, what really makes this scene horrible for me is the fact that he clearly isn’t even attempting to fight back. His arms aren’t tied down or anything, they’re just sitting there.
Might I also add this girl has her left hand in a cast, so she’s able to overpower this man with one hand?
I don’t understand how you can film a scene like this and not realize how terrible it is.
Couple this with the horrendous acting from everyone on the cast, and you get a complete nightmare of a film.
Finally, we have this horrible cliche shot of the killer somehow being released to the public and showing up at the last second.
This might have worked back in 2000, but it’s 2018, seriously stop doing stuff like this.
I would also like to talk about the star of the show, Lucy Loken.
her performance, by far, was one of the worst I had ever seen.
Originally it wasn’t noticeably horrible, but once we get into her, “crazy” stage, her horrible acting skills really begin to show.
Even when she is acting out these scenes that should be extremely passionate, there is absolutely no emotion on Lucy Loken’s face.
I would be surprised if I found out Lucy Loken took any kind of acting classes before this movie. It almost appears as if the studio just plucked some random girl off the streets.
I can only assume she received this role because she is somewhat attractive.
But in all reality it would have made a lot more sense if the girl was ugly. I mean, in the show we see her being bullied and she claims to not have any friends.
This is something that always bothers me about these kinds of movies. This girl is obviously conventionally attractive, and there is no way she would not have guys swarming her.
I actually had a chance to talk to her on Instagram, where she comes off as totally condescending and rude.
I do not mean to attack this actress, but I do believe she should work not only on her acting, but work on how she interacts with other people.
If you wish to check her out on Instagram, her account is @lucyloken.
With that said, even if Lucy Loken were an amazing actress, My Teacher My Obsession is simply a horribly written film and never stood a chance.
I feel that it takes an extremely good actor to be able to pull off the crazy act without coming off as cheesy, and you won’t find many who can pull it off well.
If you want to watch a good actor pull this off, check out the TV show Scream (Trailer). The killer reveal is one of the best I’ve ever seen and I thoroughly enjoyed that show.
My Teacher My Obsession: Improvements?
How could you go about improving My Teacher My Obsession?
Figure out what you want the movie to be called (Dad Crush or My Teacher My Obsession?)
The entire cast doesn’t have to be amazing, but for the star role of Kyla, hire someone who can actually act (not Lucy Loken).
Completely rewrite the script so that there’s less cringe lines, more interesting dialogue.
Have a competent director who doesn’t confuse My Teacher My Obsession for a monster movie.
Looking back at everything, the movie isn’t even fun to laugh at. Do not bother watching this movie, there is no enjoyment to get out of viewing it.
